I haven’t gotten to play him much: I played one ranked game on my main, and a number of games on a low-level smurf. However, I have a few more thoughts since playing him.
He is still strong, in my opinion. He was extremely underplayed before, but had potential. The rework will doubtless draw attention to him, increasing his perceived value.
The change to his ultimate alone makes him much more viable and consistent.
His shield was hugely buffed, with a 2 second CD reduction, a 10/lv strength increase, and a .2 AP ratio increase.
His Attack Speed being moved to his Q increases the consistency of his damage.
Yes, his slow is no longer spammable from the get-go, but:
I don’t see the rework as a buff or a nerf. I see it as a fundamental redesigning of the character.
Yes, you can re-create the stick potential by picking up Iceborne Gauntlets, but so can any champion.
However, the ultimate change on its own is a huge usability buff that I can’t be mad about.
Another jungler friend of mine has had success with a tanky AP build, picking up Iceborne Gauntlets, Rylai’s Crystal Scepter, and Abyssal Scepter, on top of boots and Ancient Golem.
